Drag & Drop

Hold a modifier while dragging to override what a drop does:

With no modifier held, Iruka follows the Finder convention:

• Dragging within the same disk moves the files.
• Dragging to a different disk (an external drive, a mounted server, a cloud folder) copies them.
• Dragging out of Iruka into another app always copies — nothing can be moved out from under you.

All of these are undoable with ⌘ Z.

Drop Stack

The drop stack is the shelf above the sidebar: park files on it, navigate anywhere, then copy or move the whole pile. See Drop Stack for the full guide.

Dropping files on the shelf never copies or moves anything — it only notes where they are. Parking a file is free, and Clear empties the shelf without deleting a thing.

To put the pile somewhere, navigate to the destination folder, expand the shelf, and use:

• Copy Here — copies the parked files into the folder you're viewing.
• Move Here — moves them there.

Either way the shelf empties: you've dealt with the pile. Both are undoable with ⌘ Z, which reverses the operation and puts the entries back, so nothing is lost if you change your mind. If a name conflict comes up and you choose to skip a file, that one keeps its place on the shelf — it was never delivered.

Dragging files out of the shelf follows the same modifier rules as any other drag — so a plain drag into a folder on the same disk moves the original. Hold ⌥ to copy instead. Dragging out to Finder or another app always copies.

When a parked file moves or is deleted

When Iruka copies, moves or trashes a parked file — from the buttons, by dragging its row into a folder, or by trashing it — the entry leaves the shelf immediately, and a single ⌘ Z reverses that and puts the entry back. Redo takes it away again.

If a file disappears some other way, deleted in Finder or renamed from a shell, Iruka has no way to know until it looks: that entry drops off the next time you open the shelf.

The shelf's contents survive quitting the app.

Column View

Compare & Diff

Which comparison ⌘ ⇧ C performs depends on what is selected: two files in the same pane compare with each other, one file in each pane compares across the panes, and a single file in a git repository compares with its committed version. The diff opens in a pane beside the file list rather than in a window, so the folders you were browsing stay as they were.

Git

Iruka's git support is aimed at reading back what a coding agent just did to a repository and turning it into sensible commits — not at replacing a git client. See Git Integration for the full guide.

Reviewing while a file is selected starts on that file. ⌘ ⇧ U again closes the pane.
